Pfingsten Road Repairs On Tap
Pfingsten Road is one of the roughest rides in Glenview, but that's expected to change later this year. Road and sewer work is set to begin in April on Pfingsten between Knight Street near East Lake Avenue and Glenview Road. That section of Pfingsten was last resurfaced in 1983.
Village trustees last week voted to award a $2,936,047 contract to DiMeo Brothers of Elk Grove Village. DiMeo will replace undersized and deteriorating sewer pipes and complete road-resurfacing work along Pfingsten. It expects to finish the project by October of this year. Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, Apr. 5.
The village received 13 bids for the project of which DiMeo Brothers was the lowest. Work would also include resurfacing cul-de-sacs adjacent to Pfingsten between Knight and Glenview Road. Work on the sewer system is also expected to help minimize flooding in the area.
The Pfingsten project has been on the village's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) list but was delayed last year with other CIP projects because of shortfalls in expected village tax revenue.
